Enrollments Surge in Final Days

Who knows what’s causing it – perhaps it’s the threat of penalties; perhaps it’s the promise of subsidies; or perhaps it’s just the looming deadline and a nation full of procrastinators – but whatever it is, people are busily buying health insurance as the end of the open enrollment period approaches.

You’re probably witnessing it yourself. People who were on the fence and didn’t know what they wanted to do are suddenly very motivated to make a decision. And for good reason – those who don’t sign up by Sunday will most likely go without health insurance for the rest of the year. Those who act now can be covered March 1st.

The federal government has certainly witnessed the surge in enrollments: they’ve staffed up in the Healthcare.gov call center and wait times are still exceeding 20 minutes at peak times during the day. And the HPA call center – Velapoint – is also seeing increased call volume as brokers direct leads to their private exchange sites.

We just wanted to wish you the best of luck in these last few days before closing the door on this enrollment season. And starting next week, we’ll share some ideas on how you can continue your success for the remainder of 2015.
