White House tells brokers where they should be prospecting

Ok, so this isn’t true – the White House didn’t actually say anything about brokers. But because its new “Healthy Communities Challenge” targets 20 cities with high uninsured rates, the White House has, in a roundabout way, told brokers where they should be concentrating their efforts.

The press release, issued November 6th, says that “in communities across the country, 10.5 million people eligible for Marketplace coverage remain uninsured.” Noting that it’s important “to engage key communities with large numbers or high percentages of uninsured,” the White House is launching the “Healthy Communities Challenge” in an effort to reach its goal of 10 million people on ACA plans by the end of the open enrollment period.

Whether you believe this challenge will work is irrelevant. What is important is that, along with issuing the challenge, the administration put together some pretty useful information in separate fact sheets about each of the 20 cities. Here’s the full list. Click on the city name to access the data.

Knowing which areas to target can be especially helpful for agents with a virtual storefront to direct consumers to. The advantage to having a technology solution paired with a national call center is that brokers won’t get bogged down helping each individual client and can instead focus on finding as many people as possible who need health coverage.
