In the latest news article to spotlight Health Partners America’s private exchange solution, Alabama Live reports how Mark Cagle, an HPA partner who operates his own private exchange, is profiting from the Affordable Care Act. Cagle, like a lot of agents, was originally opposed to the law but nonetheless sees the opportunities it presents. In his words, “I didn’t build the road…But we’re on it and we might as well drive.”
Cagle is only one of about 1,000 agents and businesses that have used HPA to set up a private exchange website to make it easier for consumers to shop for health insurance. The article also quotes HPA National Sales Director Ryan Butler, who says that an HPA private exchange “can do it a heck of a lot better than Healthcare.gov” in part because of the “human touch” offered by the call center agents. Most importantly, the efficiency created by someone else handling the one-on-one sales frees up time for HPA partners to go find more prospects during the three-month enrollment period. With such a short timeframe to work with, agents must be very good at time management.
