Not that you need a reminder, but there’s just one week to go for a January 1st effective date. While the open enrollment period continues until February 15th, individuals who would like ACA-qualified coverage at the beginning of the year need to make their decisions no later than next Monday, December 15th.
As we all know, people are motivated by deadlines, and this January 1st cutoff is a big one. Sales surged last December and then again at the end of the open enrollment period, and there’s no reason to believe that this year will be any different. Our suggestion? Get out of the office and start beating the bushes. If you don’t have a steady supply of leads going to your private exchange website, then you need to work hard this week to get groups of people to visit the site and dial the call center’s toll-free number.
With so little time left, one of the best ways to get a lot of leads at once is to pop into business and ask if they provide health insurance to their employees. If not, let them know that the deadline for January 1st is just a few days away and that you have a great tool to help get the employees enrolled at no cost to the employer if you can just have a few minutes of their time. That’s really all it takes – once people start shopping, they’ll realize how affordable coverage can be if they qualify for a subsidy. But the key is getting them to shop – the call center will take care of all the details so you can move on to the next prospect.
If you don’t yet have your private exchange site, you can get it here.
