Obamacare Truths and Myths

For agents, one of the most difficult things about explaining the health reform law to their clients is separating fact from fiction. That’s because both sides have been guilty of bending the truth to fit their own agenda – supporters dismiss the problems and highlight the positives while opponents ignore the positives and exaggerate the negatives. And some people just make stuff up that has no basis in reality. The result, of course, is a completely confused public.

There’s a new Yahoo! News / Good Morning America article by Abby Phillip called Obamacare: Truth and Myths that attempts to sort out some of the confusion.

While not a complete list of myths and realities, the article does tackle some of the most important questions:

  • Myth: People are having difficulty signing up for health care everywhere.
  • Myth: The website’s’ biggest problem is the number of people seeking insurance.
  • Myth: Obamacare is leading to part-time jobs
  • Myth: Employers aren’t changing the insurance they offer because of Obamacare.

Of course, education is the first step. But once people understand, they’ll expect a solution. That’s where HPA can help. If you haven’t yet attended a webinar to learn about our private exchange solution, you can sign up to do that here.
